For the past three years, students of Dr. C.G. English School, Ahmedabad have been actively participating in the Bhagavad Gita Chanting Competition organized by Chinmaya Mission. This meaningful initiative introduces students to the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, helping them develop spiritual awareness, discipline, and cultural understanding.
To ensure proper learning and understanding, volunteers (sevadars) from Chinmaya Mission regularly visit the school to guide students. They explain the significance of the Gita and train students in correct pronunciation, rhythm, and confident chanting. Shlokas from different chapters are assigned according to students’ grade levels, enabling each child to prepare comfortably and meaningfully.
The competition is conducted in two stages. The Preliminary Round takes place at the school level, where students recite the prescribed shlokas and the best performers are selected. These students then participate in the Final Round, where they represent the school and showcase their chanting skills with confidence and devotion.
Students who perform well in both rounds receive certificates and recognition, which greatly enhances their confidence and motivates them to deepen their understanding of the Gita.
